A family portrait in our hotel room because we were dressed up for a nice dinner.

New York Mets
The boys (all three of us) rode the "7" train to Queens to see the Mets play in Shea Stadium. The Mets won 3-1. The Mets have a new stadium under construction right next to Shea. It was cool to see Citi Field, which will open in 2009. We had great seats on the Mezzanine Level directly behind home plate.

South Street Seaport
We ran down to the Seaport to buy 1/2 price tickets to a Broadway show at the Ticket Development Center on Friday morning. We got seat to the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. We saw it Friday night at the Circle in the Square Theater on Broadway. After the show we walked back to the hotel through Times Square.

Saratoga
We had a great time at the races (check out the rail birds above). We did not win any money, but the track is beautiful, and the racing was great. We sat in the grandstand. You can see that attendance was up on opening day.
I had this horse (#10 named Si O No) in the first. I played him to Win, Place and Show at 8-1. He was in super postion, in second, around the final turn. The leader was ahead by two. He moved to the inside to pass the leader, and the leader fell down. He had to jump the leader and got hit in the back leg, losing all chance. He finished 7th. I should have stopped betting right then. The leader was OK. I guess he just slipped. A couple more photos are inserted below. We are at the Amtrak station in Albany, waiting on the 12:05 to NYC.

Game Five
The boys are playing three games today because one was rained out yesterday. They lost the first game 18-3, and then won Game 5 22-4. Game 6 starts at 5:00. Joey batted third and played center field in Game 5. They are 2-3.
Daniel and Maddy in the outfield waiting for a home run. The kids get to keep the ball on home runs and foul balls. There is usually a mad scramble.

New York Here We Come
We are slowly making our way to NY. Our flight this morning was 40 minutes late leaving Shreveport due to a late arrival the previous evening. The crew could not fly again without the prescribed amount of rest. In the air we lost another 20 minutes because of storms in Atlanta. When we landed in Atlanta our flight to Albany had already departed. We had an unexpected five hour layover. So we killed the time reading, watching the British Open, eating, and, of course, playing the Game Boys.
