Hotel Room

A family portrait in our hotel room because we were dressed up for a nice dinner.

New York Mets

The boys (all three of us) rode the "7" train to Queens to see the Mets play in Shea Stadium. The Mets won 3-1. The Mets have a new stadium under construction right next to Shea. It was cool to see Citi Field, which will open in 2009. We had great seats on the Mezzanine Level directly behind home plate.

South Street Seaport

We ran down to the Seaport to buy 1/2 price tickets to a Broadway show at the Ticket Development Center on Friday morning. We got seat to the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. We saw it Friday night at the Circle in the Square Theater on Broadway. After the show we walked back to the hotel through Times Square.

Little Italy

We went to dinner on Thursday in Little Italy.

We've been running around so much there is no time to blog!

Saratoga

We had a great time at the races (check out the rail birds above). We did not win any money, but the track is beautiful, and the racing was great. We sat in the grandstand. You can see that attendance was up on opening day.

I had this horse (#10 named Si O No) in the first. I played him to Win, Place and Show at 8-1. He was in super postion, in second, around the final turn. The leader was ahead by two. He moved to the inside to pass the leader, and the leader fell down. He had to jump the leader and got hit in the back leg, losing all chance. He finished 7th. I should have stopped betting right then. The leader was OK. I guess he just slipped. A couple more photos are inserted below. We are at the Amtrak station in Albany, waiting on the 12:05 to NYC.

Game Six

Joey's team won Game Six 3-1. The team they beat had only lost once going into the game. Joey played first, pitched three shotout innings, and played right field in the sixth. So they finished 3-3 and go into the tournament in the middle of the pack.

We are on our way to Saratoga for the day.

Madelyn Can Play Too

Madelyn was keeping up with the boys in a wiffle ball game.

Game Five

The boys are playing three games today because one was rained out yesterday. They lost the first game 18-3, and then won Game 5 22-4. Game 6 starts at 5:00. Joey batted third and played center field in Game 5. They are 2-3.

Daniel and Maddy in the outfield waiting for a home run. The kids get to keep the ball on home runs and foul balls. There is usually a mad scramble.

Roberto Clemente

The Hall of Fame has a few Roberto Clemente items. But no video highlights. The Football Hall in Canton is more technologically advanced.

Game Three

Joey is playing a lot of first base and pitching. We just left a game because of rain. But they continued to play. They were losing 5-1 when we left and they came back to win 9-8. We are on our way to Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame while the weather is bad.

All Star Village

Joey is playing at All Star Village. The fields are just outside Oneonta (oh-nee-onta), NY. The above picture shows the primary field with three others , there are more down the hill on the right.

New York Here We Come

We are slowly making our way to NY. Our flight this morning was 40 minutes late leaving Shreveport due to a late arrival the previous evening. The crew could not fly again without the prescribed amount of rest. In the air we lost another 20 minutes because of storms in Atlanta. When we landed in Atlanta our flight to Albany had already departed. We had an unexpected five hour layover. So we killed the time reading, watching the British Open, eating, and, of course, playing the Game Boys.

Christmas Play

Matthew, Allison and George participated as "extras" in the Christmas play at Cypress Baptist Church. There were two Acts, one religious and one secular. In the secular portion we dressed as people from the early 1900's.

In the religious Act Matthew was a shepherd boy and I was KING! As in one of the three wise men.

Daniel planned to participate but it was a little involved for him. We had practice about 17 times. Plus we were at the church to help with stage construction. At the end Daniel was just worn out and we couldn't count on him to act his small part. So he sat in the audience for all four performances.

Christmas Pictures

We stayed in Benton for Christmas, Allison's parents came up from Coushatta. It was very nice as usual, I only took a couple of pictures. Daniel got a keyboard and Matthew got an electric drum set.

Way Behind

I haven't posted since December 19th, so I am trying to get caught up.
